Abstract in Englisch:

The Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí (UASLP) has a Program for the Separation and Recycling of Materials (PROSEREM), which has been in development since 2018. However, it still has not been officially implemented and the necessary infrastructure for the separation of municipal solid waste (RSU) has not been provided. To improve the management of RSU and implement the PROSEREM, a better understanding of the perspectives and knowledge of the university community with respect to solid waste was sought via a digital survey. The 160 responses received show a high level of concern for environmental protection and importance of recycling and composting, but very little knowledge of PROSEREM or of the correct disposal of different types of wastes. This information is useful for directing environmental education efforts in a more impactful way, focusing on the most important factors to promote pro-environmental behavior.
