The Digital University Bibliography serves to record, present and document the publication achievements of all TH Köln employees.

All entries are reviewed, corrected if necessary and given final approval by the University Library.

The entries in the Digital University Bibliography replace the annual reporting of publications to the “Forschungsmonitoring” (research monitoring).

FAQ

All employees of TH Köln can report their publications to the Digital University Bibliography of TH Köln.

Additionally and upon request,

  • doctoral candidates who are not employed
  • former professors and employees (with campusID)
  • honorary professors
  • scholarship holders (an informal approval e-mail from your supervisor, the Department of International Affairs or the Department of Research and Knowledge Transfer is required) and
  • visiting researchers

may also use the bibliography, provided that they have specified TH Köln as their affiliation in accordance with the guidelines. Please submit a request to the Campus IT Service-Desk (support@campus-it.th-koeln.de).

Students cannot register their own publications unless they have been published jointly with a person from a group mentioned above. Upon request, auxiliary staff may also be authorized to register publications of eligible TH dependents.

The bibliography lists scientific publications that are permanently accessible and publicly available in print or digitally and that result from the work of one or more members of TH Köln. Publications in which scientific results are communicated to the wider public can also be included.

A publication must consist of an independent intellectual achievement; simple formal compilations are not considered as scientific publications in the sense of the University Bibliography.

Authorized persons (see above: Who can enter publictions?) and auxiliary staff authorized to register publications can log into the University Bibliography with their campusID by clicking "Login" at the top right of the bibliography website. The function "registering a publication" will then be displayed. By entering an identifier, e.g. the DOI, or by entering the author and title of the publication, you can access the entry screen for publications.

In the Personenseiteneditor (PSE, personal website editor) you can display your own publication lists on your personal TH web page by using the module “Publikationen” (if this area is visible to you). The publication lists update automatically within the given options. You can compile the display options for the list by yourself in the Digital University Bibliography and integrate the search string via the module "Publikationen" in the Personenseiteneditor.

Book (monograph)
A book, written by one or more authors, dedicated to a specific topic and presenting it comprehensively and in consideration of the relevant research results.
Book (collection)
A book edited by one or more people. It contains contributions in the form of book essays / chapters by different authors.
Conference proceedings
A book edited by one or more people. It contains contributions of a scientific conference in the form of book essays / chapters by different authors.
Festschrift
A book published by one or more persons on a festive occasion, e.g. the anniversary of a scholar. It contains contributions in the form of book essays / chapters by different authors.
Lexicon
A reference work arranged alphabetically by keywords for all fields of knowledge or for a specific subject area. It contains contributions in the form of book essays / chapters by different authors.
Book essay / Chapter
A book essay / chapter is a self-contained, dependent contribution to a specific topic / question that has been published together with other contributions, for example in a book.
Preface / Epilog
A preface / epilog is a self-contained, dependent contribution to the introduction or conclusion of a topic in a journal or book.
Abstract
An abstract is a short text summarizing a presentation at a conference and published either in a scientific journal or in conference proceedings.
Blog
A blog is a diary-like, publicly accessible website that is constantly updated with comments and notes on specific scientific topics.
Teaching material
Published teaching materials, for example in the form of teaching videos, can be reported here.
Essay / Article
An essay/article is a self-contained, dependent contribution to a specific topic/question that has been published together with other contributions, for example in a journal.
Review
A review is an article that contains a critical evaluation of one or sometimes several works.
Interview
Interviews related to scientific activities and published in magazines, newspapers, blogs, radio or television can be reported here.
Report
The “Report” category includes public scientific publications that have either been published by the institution in which the research is carried out or prepared on behalf of an institution. Working papers, expert opinions, research and final reports, e.g. from projects of public institutions can be entered here.
Contribution (Report)
Contributions published within reports can be reported here.
Qualification paper
The qualification paper serves as an umbrella term for dissertations, habilitations and university theses.
Dissertation
A dissertation is a scientific work to acquire a doctoral degree.
Habilitation
A habilitation is a scientific work to acquire the university teaching qualification.
Poster
A poster is a visual presentation of scientific results that has been published permanently on the organisers' website or in a repository during a conference.
Essay (Conference)
An essay (conference) is a conference paper that has been published permanently on the organisers' website or in a repository during a conference.
Patent specification
A patent specification refers to a granted patent and contains descriptions and drawings of a technical process or product.
Journal
A journal is a regularly published serial in which contributions with a thematic or subject-related focus are published.
Series
A series is an ongoing collective work comprising several publications, each of which is self-contained but with a general thematic reference to each other.
Newspaper
A newspaper is a regularly published serial that includes articles with current and universal content.

Open Access
Open access refers to a resource that is immediately and permanently online, and free for all on the Web, without financial and technical barriers.
Embargoed access
Embargoed access refers to a resource that is metadata only access until released for open access on a certain date. Embargoes can be required by publishers and funders policies, or set by the author.
Restricted access
Restricted access refers to a resource that is available in a system but with some type of restriction for full open access.
Metadata only access
Metadata only access refers to a resource in which access is limited to metadata only. The resource itself is described by the metadata, but neither is directly available through the system or platform.
